The Breath

As a singer, it’s all about the breath.

What if I told you, that releasing that breath is what matters? What if I told you that the exhale allows the inhale to mirror the energy & build the intensity?

What if I told you that the exhale doesn’t “expel” but actually carries the energy of vibration into the world?

If that exhale has purpose, the inhale can mirror that intensity and reclaim the momentum for the NEXT exhale, which has the potential to release even more intensity, vibration, and energy!

As singers, we need the athleticism and energy, and then we need rest and creative nesting.

All is found in the breath. The breath that releases, the breath that contains, the breath that nurtures, the breath that reminds, the breath that motivates, the breath that protects as it releases with defiant purpose.

The breath protects as it energizes.

The breath stimulates as it calms.

The breath engages as it cocoons.

Discovering its tangibility is daring, and necessary. Inhabiting its motivation and its presence is life changing.

Releasing through the breath gives us, as artists, the permission to create a moment of truth in motion.

Follow your breath. Release it to reveal; inhale it to rediscover.

With fondness & fierceness,

Susan
