The Schedule, The Temperature, & You

I have loved watching many of your social media posts with your whiteboard.

The whiteboard has become the daily homeschooling schedule for those of you with kids.

Some of you are using it to add reminders: to wash your hands, and what the actual DATE is!

Whether you whiteboard, or create a list for your day on the back of a used envelope (am I dating myself here?), or use an app, or notepad - writing it out is key.

We don’t feel like we can control much these days. It’s easy to start to feel out of control.

Sometimes, just creating a semblance of schedule by writing it down, by typing it, helps to give us a boundary to function within.

You don’t need to over-stimulate that schedule either. Nor do you have to have self-imposed guilt if you don’t follow it completely, or at all.

As I told one of my singers this morning, I have to emotional triage each day. Sometimes, I have to emotionally triage throughout the day. Sometimes that leads to reminders of what NOT to do.

Let the temperature of emotional triage indicate what you want to do, could do, will allow yourself to do, will attempt to do, and what you simply will NOT do.

When in doubt, simplify.

When in doubt, rest.

When in doubt, breathe.

That’s enough to begin a day.

Often the schedule helps to keep a needed boundary in place. Just know those boundaries are moveable, adjustable and pliable. It’s our response to them that makes them useable or not.

Start by committing to your emotional temperature and treating YOU with the self care you need. Allow that to lead you into schedule that makes sense right now.

Let me know what that leads to, and what you are discovering!
