Being Seen

As human beings and artists, we just want to be seen, felt & heard.

We need compassion and collaboration and a place to inhabit and create.

We need to tell the stories. The stories need to be told.

As we continue to emerge into the “next”, HOW we choose to be seen could bring us all into more self-awareness.

As artists and performers are beginning to return to work, to auditioning, to possibility, how was CHOOSE to re-enter or re-format or re-align is crucial.

None of us are going back to what was. We have all changed. That gives us opportunity to approach whatever we are pursuing in a new way.

The question of awareness could simply be: “how do I want to be seen?”

Now, we aren’t always in control of how others see us, HOWEVER, we can create a mindset and a focus of what we put out into the world that is in our control.

This does not mean you have to people please. Take it from me, a long time and recovering people pleaser. This does not mean you change yourself to fit into someone else’s version of you. Not. at. all.

Being seen needs to start with self-awareness. And grace. And permission to re-start.

The awareness might give your permission to change the direction, change the location, change the story. It might pick up from where you left off but with a little more definition and clarity.

You have power to discover within yourself HOW you want to been seen, and where you are being seen, and where you are wanting to be seen.

We never know how far reaching that is.

Consider taking a moment to create a statement for yourself:

“I want to be seen as: ________________”

“I am being seen as: _________________”

“I choose to be seen as: ______________”

Get creative with this! It can be a paragraph, a sentence, a journal entry. Empower yourself with this.

Then ask yourself how you are PROJECTING that. What are you doing to enhance that? Or, are you projecting something else? Is something in the way? Are you self-sabotaging? Are you excusing yourself?

It is the MINDSET and the CONSCIOUSNESS that allows us the spaces to be seen. You can work like a dog, and if your mindset doesn’t match, it’s moot.

You can have the talent and ability times infinity, and if the mindset doesn’t match, it will fizzle out.

Be SEEN.

Be PRESENT.

Be AWARE.

How others receive it, is up to them. You can be assured that if you are pursuing the authenticity and integrity of what you put out into the world TO be seen, the people who need and want to see it, will.

Being seen begins with you.
