The Journey Continues
Part 3 of this segment of the blog.
Just like your journey as an artist, and an artist pursuing a career isn’t “text book”, so is your hormonal journey.
I know, I know. Nothing is easy, is it?
Women’s health, in all its glory, has been made to feel taboo and secondary - from our health care to our politics.
Slowly but surely, there is a change in culture and a release of that taboo. You can find doctors, clinics, online services and products. There are podcasts and blogs. There are companies led by celebrities (Stacy London and Naomi Watts are two) who have embrace their age and time of life to support other women in this hormonal journey.
We, as women on this journey, need to know that there is nothing wrong with us. Our journey, our symptoms, our experiences, are all unique. What is the common ground is that we will all experience it!
We need to lift each other up, encourage and listen to each other.
With anything “taboo” we are made to feel isolated and alone. This has to be OVER.
We need to take control, and take the power back. We need to change the language. We are not aging OUT.
We are moving INTO a powerful time of life that vehemently gives us permission to claim space without apology or explanation.
We are here. We are strong. We can stand strong through a hot flash as the power of that fire moves through us and burns apology to the ground!!
I will continue to write about this and more as the blog continues. Just know, you aren’t crazy if you think there is something going on with your voice!! Voice responds to hormones no matter what. Voice responds to the physical body no matter what. It is up to us to explore ways of embracing those changes, and discovering what that voice wants of our physicality and doing that.
Change can and should be embraced, because it’s gonna happen anyway whether you like it or not!
So, instead of ignoring it, walk right up to it and see what it needs. Trust me, you will find more possibility than you could imagine.
As a resource, I will put links below to many services/clinics/products/doctors that I am aware of, follow, work with, and use. It’s up to you to do your due diligence in your research to find what you need, but perhaps this will help get you started or give you some new ideas!
In the meantime, know I believe in you and your journey, as I believe in my own. We don’t have to be isolated. We truly can explore this sisterhood of hormones together!
with fondness & fierceness & a hot flash,
