I began working with Susan as a voice teacher. She quickly became a mentor and cheerleader as well. My work with her is instrumental in my vocal health, range, and versatility. Working in loud bars late into the evening (while singing music that ranges from Puccini to pop princesses) would be impossible without her guidance and support. I've gained a confidence in my vocal ability that I never had before, the knowledge that it won't fail me even on days when I'm tired, ill, or just in a funk. I also think we've discovered a very authentic voice, one that is utterly true to me. Through much of my academic education, I was a proficient mimic, but now my voice is truly unique and that makes my work as an artist special and precious to the audience.
