Susan is scientific. She clearly talks about the structure of the body and what habits can help or hurt the voice. As a dancer, it made it easy to understand because it is all based on alignment. She is also able to explain principals of singing in many different ways—so if something wasn’t working, we shifted gears and went after the same technique in a different way. I was getting to a point in my career that people wanted to start seeing me more for principal work and for shows that required a lot more vocal prowess such as 'On the Twentieth Century' and 'Hello, Dolly!' Susan was able to strengthen my voice, diversify what I could sing, taught me how to perform safely, and have more confidence with my instrument. She has widened the range of things I can do so that I don’t have to rely on dancing alone to get work.
