"I was laying in bed one night and I thought ‘I’ll just quit — to hell with it.’ And another little voice inside me said ‘Don’t quit — save that tiny little ember of spark.’ And never give them that spark because as long as you have that spark, you can start the greatest fire again.”
Charles Bukowski

You may wonder where your spark has gone. If it’s gone. Will it return? Do I want it to return?

If you are an artistic being, a creative soul, your creativity lives because you do.

It may simply be translating into another part of your life right now, so none of us can be in rehearsal, on stage, or on set at the moment. But that creative spark? It’s alive and well. How do I know? I see it regularly on your social media….yes I see you!

You are creating a schedule for your kids to discover their day.

You are creating recipes to try.

You are creating possibilities in your day with your exercise, with your mental and spiritual health.

You are creating ways of doing things that you may never have had time to do.

You are creating.

No, perhaps it’s not the things you would LIKE to be creating, but it’s creating nonetheless.

Why? Because the creativity that is sparked within you, doesn’t leave you if you aren’t doing 8 shows a week; if you aren’t in rehearsal or auditioning; if you aren’t in a production; if you aren’t on set.

You are a creative. That spark is what gives you imagination, or perhaps it’s your imagination that sparks that creativity. They feed each other and they are a part of your DNA. It is now and forever, an essential part of WHO YOU ARE.

Give yourself permission to breathe in that creativity and let it reside wherever it is needed right now.

You are doing it without thinking - it’s behavioral because it’s how you live.

Let it lead you. Let it balance you. Let it motivate you. Let it find your stillness.

The fire will roar or simmer depending on the need and the demand. It isn’t going anywhere. You aren’t going anywhere.

With fondness & fierceness,
