The first question I ask singers in a lesson, in person or online, is: What do you want to focus on today?

In this time of Corona, online, sometimes that focus is clear, and sometimes it’s not. Sometimes that singer is just tired and they aren’t sure what they want to focus on, but guess what? They showed up.

Showing up allows for so many possibilities and permissions. It doesn’t mean you have it figure it out; it doesn’t mean you have to re-invent the day. It just means you are THERE.

Showing up isn’t selfish. Showing up for you first allows you permission to be where you are.

There doesn’t have to be an end game, or a reason beyond showing up.

Showing up reveals the integrity of you.

Showing up reveals the spirit of you.

Showing up reveals the possibility that exists.

Showing up ignites a spark.

Showing up creates a moment.

Showing up activates.

Showing up ignites hope.

Today and every day we just need that reminder.

Simply show up.

It’s not simplistic.

It’s so complex and so vulnerable and so damn warrior of you.

The strength you reveal to yourself when you show up is breathtaking.

Breathe it in.

That’s enough.

with fondness & fierceness,

Susan
