Hitting the Wall
Sunday musings…
Anybody else feel like a little hibernation and some carbs sounds just fine?
Hitting a wall sounds a little too violent, but perhaps just leaning on it for a minute is more appropriate.
I know I work hard to find inspiration, reasons, focus, and I know you do too. It’s not easy some days. Some days I just don’t want to. Some days I simply can’t.
Learning how to give ourselves some grace is key right now. I know I’m not very good at it, and so I am still learning this.
I am wondering that the “all or nothing” mindset needs to re-focus into a “reframe”.
Instead of hitting the wall, take a look at that wall and reframe it; decide what’s there; what needs to be; what doesn’t; is the wall an illusion? is it there to support us instead of keeping us out? Is it a wall of our own making? Does it belong to something or someone else?
Do we need to back off to see the context of the wall? Do we need to focus back in to see the detail of the wall?
What if hitting the wall simply gives us the tangibility to know we are feeling something?
As always, I have many questions and fewer answers…
This is my life. Thank you for taking the journey with me!
You, as an artist in your life, are courageous, unique, complex, creative and so much more.
The complexity of BEING draws us into questioning, the revealing, the purpose, the desire, the flow. We are often driven beyond our consciousness.
We often associate “hitting the wall”. with something negative; something too much;
What if that wall has context and texture to remind us of our own complexities? What if that wall has a mirror on it and we just forgot to look up and into it?
So, pick up your head, as tired as you are, as much as you’ve had it, and lock eyes with that incredibly courageous spirit you see! See that courage reflected back at you.
That courage is real. Why? Because the wall is real. You’ve acknowledged the wall.
That might be the reason for the wall: a reminder of the tangible. A reminder that you are still here. A reminder that you matter, no matter what.
Lean in. Sit down. Lay down. Take a breath to get your bearings. Take two breaths.
The wall might be just what you need right now.
