Drop the Pin

Sometimes, you just have to drop the pin, and say “I am here”.

It may not be where you want to be; it may not be where you expected to be; it may not be where you wish you would be - - but YOU ARE HERE.

“Here” can be literal, figurative, emotional, spiritual, in your life, your career, your practicing, your planning, your craft, your energy, your ANYTHING and your EVERYTHING.

YOU. ARE. HERE.

No buts, no excuses.

I had to do this, this week. I just had to STOP and pay attention to where I was. My energy was depleted, and i was pushing through on fumes.

Taking the moment, or the hour, or the day or the week to just be where you are and see what that allows is CRUCIAL to our mental, physical, spiritual and artistic well being. I am as guilty as anybody for pushing through. Trust me, I get it.

When you take a moment to drop the pin and be where you ARE, it allows you to observe that space. It allows you to drop into your own being and center and ground yourself. It allows you permission to EXHALE and then feel how the air fills your lungs again.

We push, we try to play “catch up”, we get desperate, we miss things, we get exhausted, we make mistakes.

Drop the pin into the day today.

Where am I?

How am I?

Why am I?

Let the answers be spontaneous. Make the decision to anchor through your feet into the ground as you exhale, as specific decision.

You don’t need to know why you are here. You just need to give yourself a minute to simply know you ARE. Take the temperature, look around, observe your energy in the space you inhabit.

Find your feet and exhale.

When I decided to be deliberate about that this week, instead of trying to catch up/do all the things, I was able to see and respond to something I would have simply missed if I had pushed through and forgotten where I was.

I need that reminder just as much as anyone.

So, take a moment just to drop a pin in your day, and in your life. Be where you need to be. Be with what you need. Be with how you need it.

And don’t forget to exhale.
