SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT WILL HIGHLIGHT A SINGER-ARTIST IN THE STUDIO EACH WEEK. SOME OF THESE SINGER-ARTISTS MIGHT BE FAMILIAR TO YOU, AND SOME MAY NOT. NO MATTER WHAT, EACH SINGER-ARTIST IS SOMEONE THAT YOU SHOULD GET TO KNOW!

It is an honor and a privilege for me to work with each of these singer-artists and introduce them to you!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The first blog post and Saturday Spotlight of 2022 features the magical Kayla Davion.

Kayla is the absolute perfect artist to introduce you as we begin a new year. Her talent and commitment to her craft is constant; Her sense of humor and ability to laugh at herself keeps us hollering through a lesson! She knows and lives the difference between taking your craft seriously and knowing that self doesn’t need to be taken so seriously! She can get real in a heart beat and has strength, resilience, self-awareness and boundaries, yet still remains pliable and flexible and seeks out all aspects of craft and her humanity and her spirituality.

Kayla is an old soul. She is full of depth and full of light. Find out more about her, get to know her. Let your 2022 start with some magic!

KAYLA DAVION

Chi-Town Crazy!!

This is what I normally would say when I am introducing myself while holding up my hand making the letter C. It’s always important to me to let people see the real side of me really quickly so they know what they’re getting into. I love to laugh, joke, and find or give little nuggets of life whenever I can. I believe each person’s story is created not just for them but to be a vessel to someone else. This is oddly enough how I knew Susan was going to be a good fit for me.

I met her in 2017 when I was in Waitress the Musical On Broadway. It was my Broadway Debut and I was fresh out of college. I had only trained in voice during college though singing was my love language. Waitress ended up being almost like another high school/ college phase because boy did I have so much to learn. Through doing the show I encountered two calluses on my vocal chords in which I had to take speech therapy to basically relearn how to talk again. I had a castmate named Dayna that expressed to me that I should see her voice teacher on top of the therapy. Her name was Susan. She spoke so highly of her so I took her on her word and set up an appointment and we have been close ever since. Susan helped rebuild me. I have since been in two other Broadway shows in which Susan has had a big hand in helping me rebuild- again and again. What I love so much is that she’s willing to continue to look after me. Even if she has to repeat a couple of nuggets along the way.

Today I am currently playing Tina in the Tina Turner Musical on Broadway for all of the matinees. It's my first principle contract and I could not feel more in alignment! I have a lot of hobbies outside of the show but honestly a lot of them include being in my bed. I love a good nap or diving into my bible or a book. My spiritual life is very important to me because it helps me spread love in the world. Love is the pivotal thing that everyone looks and searches for, so if I can be someone who showers someone with love in their journey then they will never have to question if they deserve it. Everyone deserves love. So I try to find ways to help give it out as much as possible. I have now created an affirmation page on Instagram to continue to do just that. Who doesn’t love an affirmation!!

I also find my joy in my friends and family. I have two nephews and a niece who are my world. I would do anything for them. And when they get old enough I hope to bring them to New York and take them around the city!! Overall my arching message about myself would be that I love community and the sense of togetherness that you get from it. Whether it be performing, jamming out with friends, having a deep talk, snuggling up to family, or doing community service, it is a moment to be in the world together- not separated. It's a moment to laugh with each other, to smile, and to leave whatever fears or worries you have behind. You get to envision a new tomorrow while you are still in the present. And you get to give and receive love while doing it. And who doesn’t love making the world a better place :) "
