The Magic of Solstice

I love Winter Solstice.

In Latin, “solstice” is made of two words: “sol” - the sun, and “sistere” - to make stand. (yes, I am a geek that way).

That’s a powerful image: the stillness of of the sun.

Winter Solstice embodies this standstill moment, and then a shift of direction.

Have you considered taking that standstill moment with your breath , to simply be? No buts, no ifs, no yeah buts, no dismissals, no excuses. Just be.

Has it occurred to you that you can shift YOUR direction? It doesn’t have to happen quickly, or suddenly and it make not shift all that much, but it CAN shift.

Staying with your breath and changing the angle can allow us to see a little more light peaking through.

Finding that stillness through the darkest night and shortest day can be a wonderful ritual of reset as we welcome the sun again.

As artists, reset, regeneration, stillness, grounding, are all so important for our path to be under our feet!

I hope you give yourself permission to find a little magic in the Solstice - an acknowledgement of your stillness and your shift into your next!
