SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT WILL HIGHLIGHT A SINGER-ARTIST IN THE STUDIO EACH WEEK. SOME OF THESE SINGER-ARTISTS MIGHT BE FAMILIAR TO YOU, AND SOME MAY NOT. NO MATTER WHAT, EACH SINGER-ARTIST IS SOMEONE THAT YOU SHOULD GET TO KNOW!

It is an honor and a privilege for me to work with each of these singer-artists and introduce them to you!

This week’s spotlight shines on Nathan Nolan Edwards.

What do I even say about Nathan? How do you put words down to describe this unique, effervescent unicorn of a human?

Nathan embodies all things artist. He reaches, he goes deep, he stretches, he observes, he leads with integrity & authenticity and he’s always learning.

I have had the honor of watching him grow up into the young man he is today: part unicorn, part Puck, part realist, part silliness, part eternal optimist. He is a kaleidoscope of talent, of story-telling, and of humanity. If you want it done, Nathan is your guy. And if you want a silly dance party in the middle of a lesson, or in the middle of life - Nathan is also your guy! AND he’ll bring the onsesies!

This young artist has a heart of pure gold, and if you give him a chance, he’ll change yours!

Get to know Nathan. The world is a better place because he’s in it.

NATHAN NOLEN EDWARDS

I am Nathan Nolen Edwards (He/Him)- I do my best to keep my inner light shining bright so others around me can live in a world of hope and inspiration. I am a super silly human with a lot of integrity for everything I do.

I started performing in the Musical Theatre world when I was 5-years-old and have never stopped. I met Susan the summer after my freshman year of college where I was studying Musical Theatre. From the very first day I felt an immediate connection to all things Susan Eichhorn Young. Initially I felt totally lost vocally and had a very negative narrative about my voice. Through over a decade of working together, Susan has been my guide on all things voice (she is especially talented and guiding those negative voices in my head out!). I now confidently identify as a Tenor with a versatile voice who can tell all kinds of stories.

My favorite things to perform are Sondheim and old school Musical Theatre. Recently I have been more involved in the world of comedy and improv having studied at Upright Citizen's Brigade and People's Improv Theatre. Currently I am in class twice a week with Matthew Corozine Studios studying the Meisner technique and it is opening up so many new worlds to me as an artist.

I like to pretend I have rituals I do every day- but one thing that I have successfully been consistent with is my morning gratitude practice. I will gather with a few friends online and share things I am grateful for about myself, the world, and others around me. Ideally I am also mediating, working out, and doing the morning pages from The Artist's Way each day but those tend to have their seasons with me.

I feel so lucky that I get to live in New York City. I see as much theatre as I possibly can to the point of exhaustion. I also make it a point to see one new movie a week and while I see both theatre and film I let myself fantasize about starring in a major motion picture one day soon.

Other life passions I have include Jim Hensen and all things Muppets. Physical fitness and how it is all connected to everything else I do. I have been a proud Ninja of Mark Fisher Fitness since 2013! Through a series of connections at my gym I was featured as the Trivia Dancer on Live: with Kelly and Ryan. I love super hero stories and would love to be hired by Marvel one day to bring one of these characters to life.

Future theatre roles I have yet to do but plan on doing in the near future include: Jack in Into The Woods, Nigel Bottom in Something Rotten, Ogie in Waitress, Dickon in The Secret Garden, and Ken in Red.
