SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT! Ashley Ware Jenkins
SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT WILL HIGHLIGHT A SINGER-ARTIST IN THE STUDIO EACH WEEK. SOME OF THESE SINGER-ARTISTS MIGHT BE FAMILIAR TO YOU, AND SOME MAY NOT. NO MATTER WHAT, EACH SINGER-ARTIST IS SOMEONE THAT YOU SHOULD GET TO KNOW!
It is an honor and a privilege for me to work with each of these singer-artists and introduce them to you!
This week’s spotlight shines on Ashley Ware Jenkins.
Ashley & I started our connection while she was doing The Color Purple on tour and we’ve done work together for over 12 years! The beauty of the connection to singers that call SEY Voice “home”, is that no matter how much time goes by, they are always part of the family and can check in when/if they need to.
Ashley is and has always been, a deep and old soul with the authentic talent and grace that lights up a stage, a room and a screen. She has a smile that embraces and draws you in, a laugh that is contagious, and a fierce compassion for all she champions!
Her artistry leads her no matter what she does: from being in rehearsal, on stage, on set, to sitting on her steps singing with her daughter, to spending time with her family and loved ones.
She is original, real, true and always and forever an artist who reveals the truths and the stories that need to be told. Get to know her. She is a living, breathing reality that woman/mother/artist/wife is all so very possible and does it with gentle flair and without apology. She is unique and will continue to change the molecules around her!
ASHLEY WARE JENKINS
Hi! My name is Ashley Ware Jenkins. I am a multi-hyphenate artist originally from Washington, DC. As an NYC-based actor/singer, I’ve done two tours (Lion King-Gazelle Company, The Color Purple), Broadway (Lion King), + many regional shows, readings, world-premieres along the way.
The films/tv series I write are based in science fiction, fantasy, and the void genre of black love stories, respectively. My creative work is informed by all that I am: a woman who aims to champion for ALL womxn, a black person, a mother, + a wife.
I’ve spent the last few months polishing my pilots, shorts, and features for submission, and have a recurring co-star role on a Starz series.
In all mediums, it is with joy and intention that I insert my personal brand of vulnerability, transformation, resilience, and authority.
Things for which I’m super grateful:
Personal growth and expansion.
Spending time with my amazing husband and sweet baby girl.
My mama.
Susan, for thinking to take a moment to spread her glorious sunshine my way❤️
