My Sunday musings…

You are here. Yes, you are here reading this blog post, but you are HERE.

This can mean so many different things on so many different levels all at once. It’s rather amazing and magical isn’t it? Full of hard work, discouragement, frustration, change of direction, change of mindset, choice, laughter, tears, determination, elation, possibility…

All the mess, all the clarity, all the possibility, all the flukes, all the hard work - and here you are!

That is success and accomplishment. That is you. That is me.

Given we are getting through this historic time in humanity and society - isn’t it time to continue to be “here” without pulling the weight and baggage of what has gone on before?

What if…you are here, and you don’t have to be everybody’s cup of tea? And what if you are here, and you don’t apologize for loving you? That you don’t second guess the repertoire you sing? That you don’t make excuses for the body that your voice resides in?

What if…you are here, and you don’t worry about “gaps” on your resume?

What if you take dates off that resume (opera industry, I am staring at YOU!) and simply reveal what you’ve done and what you are doing?

What if you are here because “gaps” are simply living your damn life and becoming the human being you are now, here, today?!

What if, instead of leaning forward to try to change for the person in front of you, you lean forward into the space between the both of you and reveal who you want them to see?

What if you are here, and if that space doesn’t feel aligned with your life, you simply stand up and walk away?

What if all that has happened to you and around you, helps to create YOU and who you are, here. Without apology. Without excuse. Without prologue.

We stand on the shoulders of those who have come before.

We are carried on the backs and in the arms of those who are stronger in those moments.

We walk with and often hold hands with those that walk along the path with us at times.

We sometimes carry someone else.

We sometimes carry something else.

it all shapes us, shapes our creativity, our artistry, our being.

You are here. We are here.

What happens if we are now willing to release what doesn’t need to be there anymore? What if we simply release it, and choose another way of doing something that we didn’t think was possible before?

You are here.

You aren’t in your past, or anybody else’s past.

You aren’t required to do it “right”, because who determined that anyway? What is “right”?

So, you are here. You got here and you deserve to be here, because it’s YOUR “HERE”.

Claim it. Reveal it. Be purposeful in it. Stand in it. Stand for it.

No apology. Be here. You have lived and earned that.

with fondness & fierceness,
